Love or Hate?

Some Christians are saying that, to point out the evil of homosexuality, is hate.  That is using the language of the left rather that the Bible.  God IS love, but hates homosexuality and has bestowed His electing love on thousands of homosexuals who have confessed and turned from their sin.  I do not hate homosexuals, but I DO hate homosexuality and the idea of gay marriage (an oxymoron).  It is demonstrable that liberals are the most intolerant and hateful people in the public square.

I bristle at the notion that is put forth by too many that Christians are the problem when we resist the legalization of gay marriage.  This resistance is not hate; it is love that warns people of the consequences and evil of sin be that homosexuality, adultery, drunkenness, gluttony, or any other sin.  Jesus drove the moneychangers out of the temple with a whip twice.   “I am not ashamed of the gospel.”

The Christians who are speaking up, be that correctly or incorrectly, are not the real problem.  The REAL problem is Christians who do NOT speak up for fear.  “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.”  Too many are saying “Jesus is the answer, not government.”  And your point is?  That truth does not negate the command to be salt and light, to proclaim the gospel, to hate evil!  Why are so many Christians concerned about “offending” people?  Jesus had no problem with offending the leadership of His day.  He proclaimed truth especially the truth that He was the Son of God.  He was crucified for it.  We are afraid of someone calling us a hater!

A homosexual wrote about Jesus loving him the way he was but it hurt to hear other Christians speak about him being bad.  What drivel.  He took a bunch of verses about the “love of God” and God’s faithfulness to justify himself. Jesus hates his sin of homosexuality.  Taking some verses out of the context of God’s righteousness does not justify one’s sin.  I hate his sin; I hate my sin; I hate ALL sin.  “To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”-Pro 8:13.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  There is much foolishness in our country today (gay marriage, abortion, big government) because there is so little fear of the Lord.

Christians need to speak up more.  We need to quit fearing the world and start fearing God.  The lion is not afraid of the lamb.  We are on the winning side!
